Scansonic at The Battery Show Europe: Efficient laser processing optics for e-mobility production
11. May 2026
Industrial production of electric-vehicle components places stringent demands on accuracy, process speed and flexibility. At The Battery Show Europe, Scansonic will demonstrate how advanced laser processing optics meet these challenges. The exhibition appearance is complemented by close cooperation with Bergmann & Steffen, contributing suitable machine concepts.
Integrated system solution for battery contacting
A key exhibit at the stand is a system for battery contacting. The turnkey solution shown for laser welding of cylindrical cells is based on the ScanWalker system, which combines machine vision, high-speed clamping technology and precise welding processes. For the welding application, Bergmann & Steffen uses Scansonic’s FCW system technology (Fast Component Welding).
FCW technology provides variable laser spot geometries, flexibly adjustable laser power and high-performance scanners. Because multiple particularly compact scanner units can be integrated on a shared application plate, several components can be processed in parallel which means an obvious advantage in terms of throughput. Alternatively, the large scan field enables larger components to be processed in a single step.
Typical use cases include applications with long seams or many individual joints, for example in battery cells, battery trays or hairpin structures for electric motors. Exhibits on show include, for instance, bipolar plates and cold plates welded in Scansonic’s in-house laser laboratory.
Laser solutions for battery enclosures
Another focus of the show appearance is the latest generation of the ALO product family. These market-leading optics for laser brazing and laser welding with filler wire and tactile seam tracking are used wherever maximum precision is required. The ALO4 has already proven itself in body-in-white production and has been further developed specifically to meet new requirements.
Two specialised variants are available for battery enclosure production:
The ALO4-L, featuring an extended telescopic arm, was designed specifically for deep-lying seams.
The ALO4-F is particularly suitable for hard-to-reach areas such as corner joints in the battery enclosure and enables vertical welds.
The ALO4-O operates with an oscillating laser beam and additional filler wire. This produces a wider joint cross-section, as more material is melted in a controlled manner.
